In 1939 San Francisco, Alma falls in love with Ichimei, the gardener's son, who is sent to an internment camp, but although they reunite, they must hide their love, until in old age her caregiver and her grandson learn about their secret passion.

Booked for Lunch is facilitated by Library Director Karen Demers and meets the first Tuesday of every month at noon.


Evening Book Discussion

On Oct. 16 at 7 p.m., the group will meet to discuss "Lucky Boy" by Shanthi Sekaran. 

A heart-wrenching novel that gives voice to two mothers: a young undocumented Mexican woman and an Indian-American wife whose love for one lucky boy will bind their fates together.

The Evening Book Discussion meets on the third Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. and is facilitated by Adult Services Librarian Mary Bell.


Classics Book Club

The selection for Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m. is "Oedipus Rex" by Sophocles.

Oedipus Rex is a famous tragedy written by the legendary playwright, Sophocles.  Sophocles tells the story of a young, prominent king who falls due to his hubris and extreme confidence.
