FAQs and Policies

Who can get a library card?
The Wilbraham Public Library accepts library cards from any library in the C/W MARS network. Massachusetts residents may apply for a library card by presenting proof of address at the time of application. The registered borrower is responsible for all materials checked out on his or her card, including fines, fees and replacement costs. Arrangements can be made for family members to borrow items on a card, or to pick up materials on hold by request.

The library staff does not restrict borrowing or use of library materials and services based on age. This is the responsibility of a child’s parent(s) or legal guardian(s).

Patrons who are sixty (60) years or older may register as a Senior. Registered Seniors are exempt from overdue fines. They are still responsible for any applicable Inter-library Loan fees.

What can I borrow with my card?
A total of fifty (50) items may be checked out on a card. The maximum number of each format is listed along with the loan period and overdue fine. Materials may be renewed in person, by telephone during library hours, and online. All Wilbraham materials may be renewed one time.

Most materials may be placed on hold for patrons at no charge. Patrons may place their own requests through the C/W MARS catalog or the Commonwealth Catalog or may fill out a request form at the library. Library staff may also locate materials from libraries outside the state, but fees may be charged from the lending library.

The library uses the Wowbrary service to highlight new materials weekly on the library website. Patrons may sign up to receive a weekly email at www.wowbrary.com.

Beginning November 1, 2021, the library has instituted a 28 day grace period.  Item returned beyond the grace period will have a $3.00 processing fee assessed.  Some exceptions apply.
